How Comfortable Is The Elegear Memory Foam Sleeping Pad?
Very! I absolutely love the comfort this memory foam camping sleeping pad provides. Especially as a side sleeper, I liked the fact that I stayed elevated all night while sleeping on this cushy sleeping pad and could roll in any direction that I liked and I was not touching the ground. The Elegear Self-Inflating Sleeping Pad with Memory Foam is also an impressive 3.1" thick to ensure you are not feeling rocks and roots underneath you. On the camping trips I have taken, I slept great. This camping pad is much more plush than my previous camping pad.
The Elegear Self-Inflating Memory Foam Sleeping Pad features a Hi-Tech foam, that can evenly distribute a person's weight reducing pressure on the body. This innovative foam makes the sleeping pad exceptionally soft and supportive, ensuring a comfortable night's sleep.
Additionally, this i-Tech memory foam used for this Self Inflating Sleeping Pad by Elegear stands out for its denser, 26D high-tech memory foam, surpassing the usual 19D density found in other camping pads. Measuring 77" x 27" x 3.1" after inflation, it's much thicker than many of its competitors. This memory foam sleeping pad can support up to 800lbs without air leakage or damage during 24-hour static pressure tests and it definitely held up all night on the times I have taken it out camping in the great outdoors. Unlike some of its competitors with thinner sleeping pads, this 3.1-inch thick foam camping pad provides ample height off the ground, which really helps in providing a restful night's sleep regardless of how you like to sleep.
The The Elegear Self Inflating Memory Foam Sleeping Pad also uses high-quality skin-friendly fabrics, making this a great sleeping pad for people with sensitive skin. The fabric on this camping sleeping pad is soft to the touch and not rough and crackly. This camping pad is also very quiet and does not make a lot of noise each time you move. The fabric is a blend of polyester, nylon, and spandex, meticulously crafted to offer optimal comfort and breathability. Not only is it highly durable and resistant to wear and tear, but another cool feature is that this sleeping pad is also water-resistant, providing peace of mind against it getting wet from condensation or rain leaking into the tent during the night.
How Warm Is The Elegear Self Inflating Sleeping Pad?
Quick answer, extremely warm! This camping sleeping pad has an R-value of 9.5 which means it has an amazing insulating capability and can keep you toasty warm on cold nights. My first trial run of this Elegear Self Inflating Sleeping Pad was in Banff Canada, and it was -4 degrees Fahrenheit out. When testing this sleeping pad out in these freezing conditions you could really feel that there was no cold updraft through the sleeping pad when laying down on it.
One month prior to this car camping trip with The Elegear Self Inflating Camping Pad, I went backpacking in the snow with another pad with a low R rating, and I was freezing all night long. So it was really nice to feel how warm and insulating The Elegear Self Inflating Sleeping Pad is after using a sleeping pad that didn't hold up in colder temperatures.
Even though the Elegear Self Inflating Memory Foam Sleeping Pad is great in frigid temperatures it is also suitable for all seasons. The fabric has moisture-proof breathable properties that help keep you cool during the summer months, making this sleeping pad a great 4 season camping pad. I have also tested it out in 40 degree weather in WA state and this camping pad worked great.

I admit that I neglected to do this and spent several minutes trying to figure out why the pad was not inflating. I simply had opened the wrong valve first. Easy fix!

This Self-Inflating Sleeping Pad is designed with an innovative double-layer one-way valve system to rapidly inflate, and after use, deflate. Inflating the Elegear Self Inflating mattress is a super easy process once you know how the two-valve design works. You just pop open the bottom layer of the cap allowing the sleeping pad to expand rapidly without the need for external air pumps or manual inflation methods. This one-way two-valve system keeps this sleeping pad airtight and leak-free. Just make sure you close the valves tightly until they click shut.
The first time inflating this sleeping pad takes a while because the foam needs time to fully expand after being vacuum-packed to ship. When I first inflated Elegear Self Inflating Memory Foam Camping Sleeping Pad it took about an hour at a high elevation, maybe around 5,000 feet and it was -4 degrees outside. I believe the high altitude and temperature is why this took me longer than average to inflate.
After the initial first inflation it only takes an amazing 20 seconds to inflate. This Sleeping pad is quick! You pop open the bottom layer of the cap, let it inflate, then click it back into place. Super fast and simple once you know the purpose of each cap and how to do it.
This sleeping pad has double-layer valves to keep it airtight and leak-free. Just make sure to close the valves tightly until they click shut.
